Repetitive floods, high population density, lack of safe water supply, rive-side location and rapid industrialization of the city of Surat are highly conducive to increase the disease burden. With the intention to address these problems, Surat Climate Change Trust (SCCT) was established under the Bombay Public Trust Act, to engage in policy advocacy regarding urbanization and climate change, to assess urban growth scenarios and to advise local governments on sustainable habitat development.
